Home learning for the fabulous Kestrel class
Why not start your day with Joe Wicks aka the Body coach. Mums, dads and even little sisters and brothers can get involved in this too. Today (25/3/20) Joe is aiming for 1,000,000 people doing P.E. with him.
After all that exercise you may need some down time, why not try a free audio book from https://stories.audible.com/discovery
or a guided meditation (these are great for homeschool teachers too!) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjW-3doUmNsyY5aLQHLiNXg
Fancy a step by step guaranteed successful art lesson? Look no further than Mr Hunter’s best friend and amazing art educator who has worked all over the world. Art John will take you through art lessons and give you lots of great tips.
As recommended earlier in the week please see https://www.twinkl.co.uk/ and create a free account and or https://www.hamilton-trust.org.uk/blog/learning-home-packs/ . On there are lots of home learning packs designed for each year group. Don’t forget NUMBOTS for year 2 and of course, Mrs Thompson’s favourite, Times Tables Rock Stars too.
Finally a couple of notes for our fab new home learning staff, please do not put too much pressure on yourself or your child. These are unprecedented times and mental health at this time can be fragile. And, finally, from Mr Hunter (who himself has three little ones) personally, your child will say “I’m bored” at some point in the coming days or weeks, do not be disheartened, Robert Pirsig (Philosopher) noted ‘Boredom always preceded a period of great creativity.”
After the Easter Holidays…
Hi all, after the holidays I will set weekly work via Mymaths and English work based on an audio book, or poem, or stimulus. I will try my very hardest to make sure that you don’t need extra resources etc. Mums and dads, don’t panic if the maths looks different to what you did in school, or the English is using terms you have never heard (lets be fair how often do we use the term ‘fronted adverbial’ in everyday life) I will try to put worked examples or definitions one here too.
For now I have popped a couple of test pieces on MyMaths. This is my first time using the system so I am just trying it out. Have a look, if it works I will be able to see.
Thanks, Mr Hunter.
